FROM THE AIR THAT HEALS TO THE GARBAGE HILLS
Heavily
populated and heavily industrialized, Prahova county is known for its problems
due to pollution of surface and groundwater, soils that we have to solve.
Ignoring environmental issues has led to worsening water quality and land
damage, which can be difficult to repair, requiring long time or at least the
reduction of the pollution sources.

Breaza is located at 100 km from Bucharest, 75
km from Otopeni International Airport and 70 km from Brasov. Breaza has an area
of 50.16 km², its part of Subcarpathians area, bordered to the north of the
Comarnic depression basin and south of Depression Campina. Breaza is accredited
as a resort by GD. 901/1996 and resort areas through Resolution no. 58 of
February 16, 2017 to approve the certification of cities or parts of cities as
tourist resorts of national or local amending Annex. 5 Government Decision no.
852/2008 approving the norms and criteria for certification of tourist resorts.
Breaza resort is located at an altitude of
380-450 m. The climate is temperate zone continental part in the
characteristics of the hill, the annual average temperature of 8-9 ° C and
precipitation of about 775 mm / year. The dominant winds blow from the
northwest, the direction favored by the Prahova Valley, but 1/3 of the year is
calm, especially during the period from August to October. Other climate
advantages are: long duration of sunshine (about 1880 hours), the large number
of sunny days (130 / year), the air rich in negative ions and ozone. Here are
characteristic features bio sedative-indifferent (cleansing), requiring very
little central nervous system and the autonomic nervous system and endocrine

In such circumstances, Breaza and its
surroundings are ideal destinations for tourists eager to regain lost forces
after a year of work.
The above description reveals an extremely
rich and beneficial to our health, a delightful, quiet, perfect for a relaxing
holiday, but resort Breaza has some weaknesses in terms of environmental
protection, known to authorities and very unpleasant for residents and
tourists.
These problems include:
Ø Environmental pollution
generated by heavy biodegradable materials not selectively
collected for
recycling;
Ø Weak education of the
community in selective waste collection;
Ø Poor public education on
the protection and conservation of local biodiversity.
Known is the problem of improper storage of
waste.
In general, due to lack of facilities and poor
exploitation, landfills are among the recognized causes of impact and risk to
the environment and public health. The main forms of risk and impact caused by
landfills town, in the order they are perceived by the population, are:
Ø changes
of landscape and visual discomfort;

pollution;
Ø surface
water pollution;
Ø changes
in the composition of soil fertility and the adjoining biocenosis.

Air pollution and unpleasant odors by wind is

the vicinity of the surface waters, polluting organic substances and

Waste management strategy trends regarding waste management are:

Among the methods and strategies of waste

An important step in educating the community
about environmental conservation, was done by the Center for Information and
Tourist Promotion Breaza, who organized and organizes many outdoor activities,
including hiking, bicycle races or cultural tours, which aimed to highlight the
beauty of the landscape and the importance of protecting the environment and
cleaning campaigns with volunteers to try to educate the younger generation
even so not to throw garbage other than in specially designated areas.
This way, combining pleasure and wellbeing
conferred movement outdoor campaigning awareness of the dangers of improper
storage of waste, the organizers manage to make known the major problem facing
Breaza resort.

Once the community understand the seriousness of
these problems and is willing to change something, to take action to improve
their lives, we can say that the problem is half solved.
An ingenious way of recycling is to turn
"waste" in art way helps to raise awareness of a growing number of
people, pushing them towards management unusual waste, springing out of respect
for nature and the desire to create , to turn "ugly" to
"beautiful art". Such a project was conducted by one of the
citizens of the city, it has created, with approximately 1,500 color covers, a
panel containing a "green",
design which aims to have three points themed "Breaza",
"Ecology" and "Recycle".

Measures
to combat the waste problem in the state were taken and the Prahova Waste Management
Partnership together with the Intercommunity Development Association who
purchased recycling bins for selective attachment to will be made upon
completion of auction.
Once
completed this project we can start the process of "cleaning" the
greening of the city.

In conclusion, there are many ways to prevent
and eliminate waste contributes to the image of the tourist resort Breaza.
